"Jimmy Throws a Party" Acrylic Painting 36" x 48"
"Jimmy Throws a Party" acrylic painting by Beth Picard. 36" x 48" gallery wrap canvas with painted 1.5" deep sides, so no need to frame.
This Jimmy Buffett tribute painting includes as many things "Jimmy Buffett" as I could think of. When I was in college in the late 70s, his songs were playing all the time. Spring break at the beach- we drank margaritas and sang "Margaritaville" until we couldn't stand up anymore. His songs make me happy and just wanted to put some of those memories down on canvas.
Jimmy is wearing "A White Sportcoat and Pink Crustacean" in the painting. That's the little pink crab on his lapel. The boats are named "Juicy Fruit" "Pirate" and "Changes in Latitudes". I managed to sneak in "Get Drunk and Screw" on the sailboat on the beach. The sign post has signs pointing to Margaritaville, Broadway (where his "Escape to Margaritaville" show is playing, Lulu's (his sister's restaurants), Key West and Destin, the Florabama (the bar in Gulf Shores where he used to play and wrote the song "Bama Breeze" about, and of course Paradise.
There are "lost shakers of salt", margaritas, his Margaritaville tequila and cheeseburgers for the guests at his party. Of course there are parrots and "parrot head" references for his fans.
It's just a fun painting that I wanted to do to honor the man and songs from my youth.
Titled and dated on the back.
Wired and ready to hang.
